Been in a huge art slump. Thankfully Erik is always there to get me out As always mask-less Erik, inspired by the Gaston Leroux version. No offense to lon chaney, I was never one for how he looked in that version. (it looked like he had a pig nose instead of no nose )
I was thinking of doing full paintings of all the versions (or just Kay, Webber and Leroux).
Anyhoo quick doodle.
Also, on another note, anyone know how to get ahold of a full POTO show that's NOT the movie????
oops! I should probably restate this! I'm actually looking for footage of the musical, because I can't keep paying to go see it! lol!!
I own almost all other movie versions of the phantom, ( I don't have the lom version yet) and I've also read a lot of the sequels available on amazon) Kay's is by far the most amazing!!!
what sort of POTO show you looking for? The original with Lon Cheney? Or one of the other versions like Phantom of the Paradise or the one with Robert Englund, etc.? I could get a hold of some of these for you if you'd like.
I thought of Lon Chaney when I saw this. He achieve the skull look by wrapping piano wire under his nose until it was pushed back far enough. It's rare to find actors these days who are that willing to go those physical extremes.

As Sepia-Mortis said, there are several versions of the film to choose from. All of them have their own twist on the original material...Lon Chaney's might be actually be the most faithful.
There's a also a few super-campy music videos of the Andrew Lloyd Weber musical (that were released before even before it opened in London) that are full of 80s goodness. You can probably find them on Youtube.
AND, one more recommendation...there is a book by Susan Kay called Phantom that tells the story of his life...I'm not sure it's in print anymore, but if it is it's really really good!
There's the 1989 slasher film with Robert Englund as the bloodlust psycho phantom.

E-Erik!! //// V-very nice job, I'd be so very happy to see your renderings of the other versions of him as well.
As for a full version of a Phantom show that isn't the movie, I haven't the slightest, I'm afraid. The only thing I've ever seen advertised or on sale is the movie, which is a shame. You'd think that there would be a movie of one of the shows....

It's too late for me.
